Young Anes is a 15 minute observational documentary that explores what it's like to both live in Whitfield Dundee and to be a young mum living near the breadline.

The film is produced and directed by Dylan Drummond and has been short listed for the Saltire Short Scottish Documentary Award at this years Edinburgh International Film Festival (http://www.edfilmfest.org.uk/ ). Dylan, a local film maker also works part time at Dundee Rep Theatre as part of the Theatre's Education & Community Team.

"Not many people associate the REP with film making but this project is just one of the many ways that Dundee REP supports educational and community initiatives in the city. My job is to bring in to the city and national consciousness issues that address social inclusion and the well being of local communities," says Dylan.

'I really can't take any credit for any strengths in the film, it's all down to the young mums and their desire do something about their own circumstances. As a film maker, when I first went along to the Healthy Living Initiative groups that facilitate the young mums I was immediately impressed by their candid nature and the way the group was tackling community issues for themselves.'

The film also features some of the deprivation that still exists in Whitfield to this day but the overall message is positive. Dundee Street Poet, Gary Robertson also waxes lyrical within the film which premieres on Saturday the 19th August at the Filmhouse in Edinburgh.
