London based production company Bollywood Limited is working with iDream Productions of Bombay.

Shripal Morakhia, Chairman of the iDream Group flew into Dundee Airport in September and from that brief visit decided to bring the production here. Brian Brake and Firuzi Khan are partners in Bollywood UK, a company which specialises in setting up production in the UK for companies based in India. The team have enjoyed their time here and are confident of bringing more productions to Scotland.

The film is due to be released in Spring 2004 says executive producer Sumit Kumar. The film is directed by Pankaj Advani, a groundbreaking director in many ways - He shot the first digital film in India “Urf (Alias) Professor” and other credits include “Sunday”, both award winning Hindi films. The female lead is played by UK’s Audrie Woodhouse (award winning actress at the Edinburgh Festival where she wrote and starred in “The Lion, The Witch and a Bag of Chips”. Other credits include leading roles in “Matilda” & “The Changeling”). The Indian Male star is Rahoul Dev, well known in India for such productions as “Ashoka” and “Champion” both award winning Hindi films.

The day Mr Morakhia visited was a holiday for Julie Craik who runs TayScreen, the regional screen office. TayScreen helps production of all types come to the region be helping with free locations, facilities and crew. The office is a joint venture between Angus, Dundee City, Perth & Kinross Councils and Scottish Enterprise Tayside, with support from the European Union. But when Mr Morakhia called to say he was coming the next day, the holiday was put aside – a step which has certainly paid off.
