Dundee's Realtime Worlds, the leading British independent video game developer, can announce founder and creative director, David Jones, has been awarded Director of the Year 2009 by the Institute of Directors, Scotland.

As well as the evening's top award in recognition of his services to industry in Scotland, Jones was also honoured with a second award, the Regional Director of the Year for Tayside, at the gala event held in Edinburgh last night. His win was announced in front of more than 300 winners, finalists and assorted guests by the event's host, TV and radio broadcaster Kaye Adams.

The IoD Director of the Year Awards were launched in 2004 by IoD Scotland to recognise and celebrate excellence at director level within the private, public and voluntary sectors, from a whole spectrum of the business community in Scotland. Once again led by IoD Scotland, this year's awards are also backed, amongst others, by The Scottish Government, Highlands & Islands Enterprise, SCVO, Scottish Enterprise, Edinburgh Napier University, and The Prince's Scottish Youth Business Trust.
